With More pleasure and Privilege, I welcome you all to the Department of Agricultural Engineering. The Department of Agricultural Engineering incepted in the academic year 2019- 2020 with an intake of 60 students. The course duration is four years. The Department has been equipped with state of the art laboratory facilities such as Crop husbandry, Soil science, Operation and maintenance of farm machinery, Post harvest engineering and Irrigation Field lab for equipping students with desired practical skills which are high in demand. The Department is provided with 5 acres of farm land for the research and extension activity of both faculty and students.
The Department has Faculty members specialized in the areas of farm machinery, post harvesting engineering, soil and water conservation engineering and renewable energy and are technically sound in their specialized areas which is the backbone for the skill development of student community. The department regularly organizes skill enriching activities for making students for meeting the current industrial requirements and also conducts workshops, seminars , conferences to keep the faculty and student community abreast about the latest developments in the field. The department is committed for developing Future Entrepreneurs and Globally Competitive Technocrats through outcome based education
Beyond the classroom hours students have been provided with technical exposure about the latest techniques through value added courses such as Precision farming, Waste management, Internet of Things and Vermi composting. The Department has signed MoU with leading agricultural industries for knowledge and skill up gradation of students for making them highly dominant in submitting project proposals to TNSTC, MSME and TNSI. Expert talks on special areas of agricultural engineering have been done on regular frequency through faculty exchange programme with neighboring institutes.
Agricultural Engineers are observed as Field officer, R& D specialist, Micro irrigation specialist, farm equipment design and maintenance engineer post to their graduation.
